Short Term Programmes

USP offers a variety of short-term programmes allowing students to explore their areas of interest, both in terms of programme content as well as geographical location. Most of the programmes are non-credit bearing but have strong academic or community goals and many are student-initiated. As the list of programmes varies each year, students are encouraged to monitor their email inbox for the latest range of programmes on offer. 

CKC–USP Summer Seminar: Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society

The Chu Kochen Honors College (CKC)USP Summer Seminar: Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society in China is an experiential programme that promotes student leadership. This interdisciplinary programme covered the basic concepts of leadership and topics in computer sciences, life sciences, medicine, innovation and strategic management, sociology and environmental arts.

Asian Undergraduate Summit

The Asian Undergraduate Summit (AUS) is a student-led, student-run international conference by the National University of Singapore (NUS) University Scholars Programme (USP). The Summit aims to bring together undergraduates of diverse disciplines from Asia, and provide them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful academic, cultural and social exchange.

Builders Connect

This is a development-work learning programme to the Philippines. Initiated by USP students, it aims to achieve learning and service through development work research and fieldwork.

SEA at the Crossroads: Questions of Environment, Development and Culture in Chiang Mai

In this study trip, USP students embark on the trip to examine environmental and resource issues arising from various factors, such as an increasing population, expanding industry, and intensified agriculture in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Pan-Asian Student Forum

The Pan-Asian Student Forum aims to provide a platform for students from universities in Asia to meet regularly and share views on topics that impact countries in the region and around the world.

Desert Nights Rising Stars

Hosted by the Virginia G. Piper Centre for Creative Writing at Arizona State University (ASU), ‘Desert Nights, Rising Stars’ is a 3-day Writers Conference involving workshops, panels, readings, and Q&A sessions.

Forgotten Communities

This is a student-planned field trip to study “New Villages” in Malaysia. Students engage in ethnographic research and contribute to mapping the community assets of these rural "New Villages". Students get to do fieldwork with lecturers and students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), guided by USP professors.

Buddhism in Asia

This is a study programme initiated in 2009 by USP students who were inspired by USP classes on religion and religiosity.

Civilisation of Iran

This is a study programme to Iran, led by a USP/NUS professor.

Tufts University EPIIC International Symposium

USP has been a partner of this symposium since 2008.

Princeton Diplomatic Invitational

The Princeton Diplomatic Invitational (formerly known as PICSim) is a flagship programme of the International Relations Council at Princeton University.

Inter-Civilisational Dialogue

Under a different overarching theme each year, this study programme immerses students in various academic and cultural activities and exposes students to a variety of cultures and religions.

STEER

The Study Trips for Engagement and Enrichment (STEER) are designed to familiarize students with the diverse socio-cultural-economic environment of new and fast-evolving regions through a mix of classroom-based learning and experiential site visits. USP, in collaboration with the NUS Global Relations Office (GRO), has offered STEER programmes to countries such as Thailand, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Brazil.
