USP Students Home with Awards from Shantou

Four USP students brought home an award each after participating in the 14th Annual English Festival at Shantou University earlier last month.

They are:

Lim Wei Shen Mark (Law + USP, Class of 2019)

Ng Aik Wei Marcus (Economics + USP, Class of 2020)

Chuan Limin (Law + USP, Class of 2019)

Lee De Yi (English Literature + USP, Class of 2017)

Mark and Marcus represented NUS in the Debate contest and won second place overall. More impressively, Marcus received the Best Overall Debate Speaker award. Limin clinched third place in the Singing contest where she performed prepared songs based on the Festival’s theme – Tradition in the Modern World. De Yi was ranked fourth in the Speech contest where he gave a 4-minute prepared speech based on the theme and a 3-minute impromptu speech.

Held from 2-4 December 2016, the Festival was hosted by the English Language Centre (ELC) at Shantou University in Guangdong province, China. This is the second year USP has been invited for the Festival after a strong performance by three USP students in 2015.

We congratulate Mark, Marcus, Limin and De Yi for their impressive performance!
