Required Texts
Because Diana Hacker’s A Writer’s Reference, 6th edition, is now ridiculously overpriced, I am no longer requiring that students purchase this invaluable resource on grammar, style, and citation methods. Instead, you should avail yourself of the numerous copies of this handy reference work in the USP Reading Room. Gordon Harvey’s Writing with Sources, another useful guide, will be distributed free-of-charge. One of the readings for the class will be found on-line, while the rest will be located in a binder in the USP Reading Room and on reserve in the Central Library. In addition, a number of useful materials related to the practice of writing have been gathered at the UWP links page: http://www.usp.nus.edu.sg/writing/resources/index.html. We will be periodically using certain links from this page, and students will find the other available resources gathered here a handy collection of supplemental materials related to various aspects of the writing process.
