call for papers
Please submit your best work written for a writing course in the current academic year.
- Each student may submit one paper that was previously submitted for a writing module in the current academic year.
- folio solicits your best work, which is not necessarily the longest: short close readings, comparative essays, and longer multi-source papers are all equally welcome. Any finished work submitted for a writing assignment will be considered for publication.
- If your work requires illustrations (an image or object you are analyzing, for example), please include a copy of the image or a photo of the object if possible. Copyright issues will be addressed later if your work is selected.
- folio accepts both print and email submissions.
- Email submissions are preferred. Please send your paper in Word to folioeditor@nus.edu.sg. Print submissions should be placed in the folio mailbox on Level 5.
- All submissions should [1] include a cover page or header with the following information: your name; the module for which the paper was written; the assignment--i.e., whether you are submitting Paper 1, 2, or 3; the semester of original submission;
contact information (where folio can reach you after the exams for the final editing if your work is selected); [2] be typed and in double spacing, with page numbers; [3] use the MLA parenthetical documentation style; [4] use gender-neutral language.
- Students whose papers are selected for publication will work with the editor(s)--in person or by e-mail--during the final editing and proofreading process. No substantial revision is expected if the paper is selected.
- Deadline: Six weeks after the end of classes: 1 June 2010. Submissions are accepted any time during the academic year.
