Student Grants Programme

Funding Quanta

The following funding quanta will apply:

(A) USP Study and Research Grant (Please apply via - https://usp3.nus.edu.sg/sgs_isis/login.jsp )

  • Presenting a paper in an academic conference: Up to 75% of claimable expenses, depending on prestige of conference;
  • Attending a conference (not presenting paper), course or workshop: Up to 50% of claimable expenses;
  • Internship, attachment and research: Case-by-case, depending on intellectual merit/prestige and level of involvement 

Claimable expenses include the following (applicable ONLY for the DURATION OF THE EVENT)

  • Airfare (economy) plus train other means of transportation to get to the conference city. Transportation within the city is NOT CLAIMABLE.
  • Accommodation (suitable for students)
  • Registration fee

(B) USP Student Activity Grant (Please apply via - https://usp3.nus.edu.sg/sgs_isis/login.jsp )

USP will provide partial funding for selected projects on a competitive and case-by-case basis based on the following criteria:

  • Merit and relevance of the activity;
  • Well-preparedness of the proposal;
  • Benefit the activity will bring to USP as a whole;
  • Evidence that the activity will be well-organized.

** Students will always be asked to explore external funding first; percentages above refer to actual approved & claimable expenses minus external funding received.

  • General Application Rules
    • The student must have a minimum CAP of 3.5 to apply, with the exception of freshmen in their first semester.
    • The applicant must be a current USP student who is working actively towards completing the USP module requirements.
