| University-Wide and Faculty-Wide SEP
While students in USP do not
receive special consideration for the university-administered SEP,
our students are excellent candidates for exchange because of their
academic talents, broad interests, and engagement with and curiosity
in the world around them.
Currently, the applications for University-Wide (U-Wide) SEP and Faculty-Wide (F-Wide) SEP are administered by the Registrar's Office and the administrative offices of the students' home faculties and schools. The Scholars Programme works closely with them to ensure that the logistical arrangements are smooth. Click here for more information on U-Wide and F-Wide SEP application processes.
Special SEP between USP and partner universities
USP has exclusive student exchange tie-ups with partner universities whose approach to education is similar to USP: to inspire students to a lifetime of broad intellectual curiosity, self-sustained inquiry and personal growth through carefully designed small classes, close advising, and a collegial environment.
USP has tie-ups with the following partner universities :
Peking University
University of Oregon - Clark Honors College
University of Connecticut Honors College
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Honors College
Carleton College
University of Arizona
Pennsylvania State University
How do I apply for USP SEP?
You will be notified of available exchange places via email when application opens in September (Sem 1, Sem 2 and full year exchange in the next academic year) and May (Only Sem 2 exchange in the next academic year)
- You must be a student (any discipline) in USP, and preferably be in the third, fourth or fifth semester of your studies. You cannot be in your graduating semester.
- You may apply even if you have submitted other SEP applications to your home faculty earlier on but have not been accepted for any place. Likewise, should you be unsuccessful in your USP SEP application, you may subsequently apply for U-Wide SEP when the application for U-Wide places opens.
- You should check up course offerings by the partner university to ensure that there are suitable courses for you to take in order to fulfill your major requirements, as well as your USP requirements, during the exchange. The specific course offerings for any semester are available only nearer the start of class in the partner universities’ websites.
- Your application must be submitted via the online SEP application portal (OPAS) not later than the published deadline.
- Interviews may be conducted by USP.
Please refer to the Registrar’s Office SEP website for information and frequently asked questions about SEP and the application process.
For USP SEP application beginning in AY 2008/09, the application procedure has been aligned with NUS online application timeline for U-Wide SEP. USP SEP will be announced to students via emails and students can apply via the Overseas Programme Application System (OPAS).
