Academic Structure

There are two components to the studies of an undergraduate in the University Scholars Programme in NUS:

  1. A concentration or major in one or more specialised field(s) with the faculty that he/she will graduate with, inclusive of the faculty and major requirements, as well as any unrestricted electives requirements;

  2. First-Tier Modules and Advanced Modules in the Scholars Programme which provide broadening across disciplines; and broadening (within domain of specialisation) within disciplines respectively.

First-Tier Modules are assigned four Modules Credits (MCs) each. Advanced modules are typically worth 4MCs, although an Advanced Module riding on a regular faculty module may not. The minimum number of modular credits required by a student to be conferred his/her degree will follow that of the respective home Faculty as imposed on the respective cohorts.

Our partner faculties and schools have already mapped out and incorporated the Scholars Programme requirements into that of the students' graduation requirements at the faculties or schools, be it a single degree, double degree or concurrent degree programme structure. For more details, please refer to: Incorporation of USP requirements at Faculties/Schools.

The University Scholars Programme is a four-year Honours programme. Students in the Programme are expected to maintain consistently high standards in their academic work. If students exit the Programme, the modules read during their duration in the Programme may be mapped back to their home faculty's graduation requirements on a case-by-case basis. For more details, please refer to: Mapping Guidelines.

For general information on the Programme, please go to: Overview.
