| Student Exchange Programme between
University Scholars Programme (National University of Singapore)
and Yuanpei Programme (Peking University)
NUS and the Peking University (PKU) signed an exchange agreement on 30 June 2005, which provides opportunities for up to ten students of NUS’ University Scholars Programme and PKU’s Yuanpei Programme students to study for a year at the respective partner institution per year.
The Yuanpei Programme is PKU’s top undergraduate programme that selects the crème-de-la-crème out of the eight million graduating senior high school students in China. Last year, the Yuanpei Programme attracted the top scorers (zhuangyuan) of ten provinces in China.
The University Scholars Programme (USP) is NUS’ talent programme. It is specially designed to stretch the intellectual, leadership and personal capacities of some of the brightest and most highly motivated undergraduates of NUS.
Designed as one of the options through which students could fulfill the USP Advanced Curriculum, the USP - PKU Yuanpei Cultural Immersion Programme aims to equip a group of future leaders of Singapore with strong cultural capabilities. During their one-year stay in PKU, USP students will read modules on Chinese history, culture, society and economy, and will also benefit from extended interactions with the top minds and future leaders of China, and experience global competition at its keenest.
Upon successful completion of the duration of study, the host university will issue a certificate to the exchange student, certifying the completion of the “NUS University Scholars Programme – Peking University Yuanpei Programme Student Exchange Programme”.
USP students graduate with a major degree from their home faculty or school, and a China Studies Minor.
