The Yuanpei-USP Cultural Immersion Programme is restricted to a maximum of ten (10) USP students per academic year (August – May). This immersion programme started in Academic Year 2005/06.
Students will be selected on the basis of merit and other non-discriminatory eligibility criteria as listed below:
- be registered as full-time undergraduate student of the home university in USP (for NUS students) or Yuanpei (for PKU students), and preferably be an eligiblenational (citizen or permanent resident) of the country;
- have successfully completed at least one semester of study at NUS upon application for the cultural immersion programme; and two semesters of study upon admission to PKU;
- achieved a minimum 'B' average grade or 78% average mark;
- propose an appropriate programme of study at PKU;
- show the aptitude, motivation and maturity, to thrive in the environment at PKU; and
- have sufficient funds for all fees, personal and living expenses for the duration of the study abroad at PKU.
USP students interested in the Yuanpei-USP Cultural Immersion Programme can apply when the application for USP Student Exchange Programme opens around September / October of each year. Students have to apply via the online Overseas Programme Application System (OPAS). See USP SEP Application.
USP office may conduct an interview with the applicant in November to discuss the proposed programme of study and evaluate his/her suitability for the Yuanpei-USP Cultural Immersion Programme.
USP students nominated by USP for admission as an exchange student to PKU must submit the following documents to PKU by end April:
- PKU application form
- 2 recommendation letters from academic/faculty staff
- transcript of academic record
- a specific outline of the programme of study at Peking University
- photocopy of passport
- Official letter from USP certifying exchange status.
