Studio Report
There will be a visit to a studio that is involved in composing, arranging and recording music for commercial events. The studio report requires the students to write an evaluative report after the studio visit on the technical equipment in the studio, the process of recording, and the environment in which music is created and arranged. This typewritten report should not be less than 1 page and not more than 3 pages long. Anything less or more than these pages will not be graded. It should be doubled spaced with Times or Times New Roman font, and in 12 point font size. The report is due anytime on or before the week of October 28, 2002. Late submissions will not be accepted.
The following are some suggested topics that students can base their report on, or there may be a combination of these topics:
- Studio Setup - this refers to the equipment that you can see in the studio, how and why the layout of the studio is arranged in this way, etc.
- Audio Editing - this refers to the techniques involved in audio editing, what formats are the music/sound sources in, how long does it take to edit, etc.
- Technological or aesthetic concerns
- Relation to other subject areas
- Immediate reaction - the impact of this experience - changes to previous thoughts or opinions, etc.
- Any other original thoughts
