Entrepreneurial Development Option

NUS Overseas College (NOC)

Intended for students who aspire to become entrepreneurs, this option allows students to gain one year's study and internship experience through one of NUS's Overseas Colleges (Silicon Valley, Pennsylvania, Beijing, Shanghai, Stockholm or Bangalore).

For students embarking on the NOC, the whole of the NOC study experience may count towards their fulfillment of the Advanced Curriculum requirements in the Scholars Programme.  To apply for modules substitution, students are to download the form from here and submit the completed forms for approval at least one month prior to their departure for the overseas college.

NOC India and NOC Israel may not count towards a waiver of the USP Advanced Curriculum as they are internship programmes where students do not earn credit and are to take leave of absence for the duration of the programme.  However, if student is approved by home faculty to map the internship back to NUS, they may put up a module substitution form to have the module count towards a USP ISM.

Under normal circumstances, students going for NOC (Silicon Valley, Pennsylvania, Beijing, Shanghai, Stockholm or Bangalore) will not be able to map back any of the TR modules as USP First Tier modules as the NOC experience has already fulfilled the USP Advanced Curriculum.  However, modules taken outside the NOC structure with universities like Standford University, Fudan University,  may be mapped back as USP First Tier modules subject to the suitability of the modules themselves.

How to join?

Students should apply for a place in NOC in Semester 3. Refer to possible study schedules.

iLEAD (innovative Local Enterprise Achiever Development)

Offers NUS students an opportunity to intern at innovative companies and be exposed to the entrepreneurial challenges in Singapore.

For students considering the iLEAD programme, the whole of the study experience may count towards their fulfillment of the Advanced Curriculum requirements in the Scholars Programme. As such, students on the iLEAD may seek approval for Advanced Module waivers. To apply for the waivers, students are to download the waiver application form (applicable to SEP, NOC and iLEAD) from here and submit the completed forms for approval at least one month prior to their commencement of the programme.
