Academic Requirements for Core Curriculum/TDP Students as well as Transitional USP Students Previously from Core Curriculum/TDP Matriculated in 2000-2001

First-tier Modules

Faculty
Requirements
Arts and Social Sciences
  1. Pass a total of 8 modules covering at least 5 areas.
  2. Pass one compulsory Singapore Studies module from a basket of Singapore Studies modules available, which includes USE2304 -Singapore: The Making of a Nation. (See below for Singapore Studies modules.)
  3. Pass at least one Writing and Critical Thinking module.
  4. Pass at least three modules covering at least 2 areas in the Sciences/Technologies Domain
Business Administration
  1. Pass a total of 8 modules covering at least 5 areas.
  2. Pass one compulsory Singapore Studies module from a basket of Singapore Studies modules available, which includes USE2304 -Singapore: The Making of a Nation.
  3. Pass at least one Writing and Critical Thinking module.
  4. Pass at least three modules covering at least 2 areas in the Sciences/Technologies Domain.
Science
  1. Pass a total of 8 modules covering at least 5 areas.
  2. Pass one compulsory Singapore Studies module from a basket of Singapore Studies modules available, which includes USE2304 -Singapore: The Making of a Nation.

School of Computing
  1. Pass a total of 8 modules covering at least 5 areas.

  3. Pass at least one Writing and Critical Thinking module.
  4. Pass at least three modules covering at least 2 areas in the Humanities/Social Sciences Domain.

* refers to those TDP/Core students who matriculated from 1999 onwards, but excludes TDP students from the Faculties of Engineering, Law and Design and Environment.

Advanced Modules

Students previously from Core Curriculum/TDP but who transitioned into the University Scholars Programme will also be required to read four Advanced Modules. They will observe the requirements of two Advanced Course-Based Modules (CBMs) and two Advanced Independent Study Modules (ISMs). In addition, the TDP modules read by transitional USP students may be counted towards their Advanced Modules requirements. Please refer to this notice for more information.

Singapore Studies Requirement

Students in the Scholars Progamme must also fulfill one Singapore Studies requirement during his/her duration in the Programme. This requirement may be satisfied by a choice of modules designated as fulfilling the Singapore Studies requirement in the First-Tier or Advanced Modules curriculum. You may refer here for this list of designated modules.

Human Resource Module Requirement

For students whose home Faculty requirements consists of a Human Resource Module (HRM) requirement, you may fulfill this requirement at your Faculty provided you have read any one of the following First-Tier modules:

  3. UPI2201 Negotiating Moral Issues (was USMR01)
  4. UHB2201 Human Relations (was USHB01)

  7. USE2301 Economic Policy Analysis (was USSE01)
  8. USE2302 Democratic Possibilities in Singapore (was USSE02)
  9. UCV2201 Islam and Contemporary Muslim Societies (was USCC01)
  10. UCV2203 The civilizations of India and Contemporary Indian Communities (was USCC03)
  11. ULS2203 The Brain and Cognition (was USLS03)
