As a student in USP,
you have the unique privilege of not committing to any faculty upon
admission. You have the freedom to experience a broad array of both
general and discipline-specific modules in NUS, according to your
interests and capabilities. Even though students admitted to USP need not commit to any one faculty initially,
nonetheless, you still have to indicate the preferred choice of
faculty as an NUS admission requirement.
You are strongly encouraged to have read at least one or a few
of the modules offered in the major of the faculty for which you
have an intention to transfer to, before you seek a transfer.
This is to ensure that you are able to graduate well in your intended
major(s) within a suitable time frame.
You are strongly encouraged to approach your academic advisor
who will help to review your curriculum and offer you advice as
you make a decision.
As a USP student, you may apply to change your choice of faculty
or course of study up to the end of the fourth semester, not affecting
your tuition fees.
-
Your application is subject to the approval of the Admissions
Selection Committee in NUS. This scheme is intended to
benefit students who discover alternate academic interests during
the course of their broad-based curriculum in the first two years
of studies. Therefore, students who seek a change of courses are expected
to meet the entry cut-off requirements of the receiving faculty.
Students should be confident of their GCE 'A' level (or high school
equivalent) results and the University grades when contemplating
a change of courses. The committee will also take into consideration
the reason for the request. Applicants may also have to undergo
an interview to assess their suitability for the course that they
have requested. Such interviews are scheduled at the discretion
of NUS.
-
Students seeking a change of courses while remaining in USP will transfer
all modules taken including grades and CAP to the new course of
study. Your matriculation number remains unchanged. The receiving
faculty has the absolute discretion to decide which modules can
be used to satisfy the relevant graduation requirement. The minimum
residency requirement for the new course of study is two years.
-
Upon transfer, you may be asked to read certain module(s) as
prerequisites to higher level modules offered by the receiving
faculty.
