Volume 1, Issue 1, March 2008
"The Singapore Exception"
This journal publishes students’ papers arising from Independent study modules, honours projects or other in- and beyond-the-classroom learning activities with a research focus. The 2008 inaugural issue contains 12 articles that arose from the USP-Stanford Summer Programme in 2007. In this collection of articles, six Stanford students and six NUS students look comparatively at issues on education, culture, economy and the environment in Singapore and the US (in particular the San Francisco Bay Area).

Conexus 2008
Volume 6
A Collection of Essays from the University Scholars Programme
Conexus was conceptualized in 2002 by Mr. Ian Yeo, then Academic Secretary of the University Scholars' Club. Since then, each editorial board at Conexus has put together a collection of outstanding papers every year to showcase the best of USP talent.
The topics in this issue of Conexus are wide-ranging, and it is exciting to see the issues in the field of the sciences - genetic engineering, evolutionary psychology - and that of the arts - Singapore's heritage and art - being explored critically in this one volume. Using the arts to understand the sciences better, and vice versa, has been one of USP's core tenets of education, and we hope through a collection such as this to demonstrate USP's aim to inculcate in her students the ability to appreciate the underlying principles that exist across disciplines.
