| Admission to USP is by application. Anyone applying to NUS may at the same time apply to USP separately. Our students are from any one of USP partner NUS faculties or schools, namely, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, NUS Business School, School of Computing, and School of Design and Environment.
You may apply to USP even if your first or second choice is not one of the USP partner faculties and schools (e.g. 1st choice Medicine, 2nd choice Dentistry, 3rd choice Science), however, your place in USP (if selected) is contingent upon your accepting an offer to study at one of these partner faculties and schools.
Applicants may apply under one of the following categories to be considered for the Programme:
- Category 1: Outstanding academic record
- Category 2: Special interest and exceptional talent, background or achievement, regardless of academic record
Prior to application, it is advisable that interested applicants read and understand the academic structure of the USP curriculum as well as learn how the USP curriculum requirements are incorporated into the partner Faculties/Schools’ degree requirements, be it a single-degree, double degree or concurrent degree programme structure.
What is the application procedure for Academic Year 2008/2009?
You are invited to apply for the Programme in March, after the release of the
Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level results. All applicants are required
to write a short essay in support of their application. Short-listed candidates
(with local mailing address) will be contacted for an interview
from April
to June 2008. Interviews for international applicants (with overseas
mailing address) joining NUS in August 2008, will be conducted nearer the
start
of the academic year in July. Applicants will be assessed on the
basis of the essay and the interview, in addition to academic and co-curricular
achievements.
National Service (NS) Men who are successful will have a place
reserved for them in USP in the year that they matriculate into NUS. The
closing
date is Wednesday, 02 April 2008.
You will receive full consideration when you apply by the above-mentioned closing
date. Should you, for one reason or another, apply after the closing date, your application will be
considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to the availability of places
in the Programme.
If you are a Returning National Service (RNS) man and have not applied to USP before, the closing date for application to the Programme is Friday, 01 February 2008 if you intend to matriculate earlier to read USP module(s) in the Special Term. Short-listed candidates will be
contacted for an interview from February to March 2008. However, if you
decide to matriculate in August 2008, the closing date for the Programme
will be the same as that applicable to the rest of the applicants i.e. Wednesday, 02 April 2008. If you already have had a place reserved in USP, you will
receive a re-confirmation package in February 2008.
