Dr Andrew Conroe

Andrew Conroe is an assistant professor in NUS and has teaching appointments in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the University Scholars Programme (USP). Dr Conroe received his Bachelor’s Degree in English and Religion from Oberlin College, and a Master’s Degree in Southeast Asian Studies and a PhD in Anthropology and History from University of Michigan.

At the USP, Dr Conroe teaches in the domains of Writing and Critical Thinking, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The module he offers is:

Dr Conroe is a specialist in the anthropology of Indonesia and his research interests include the intergenerational transmission of memory, the anthropology of human rights and transitional justice, and the role of humour and satire in social and political movements.
